New transfer valuations for players around the world have been released, and one Crystal Palace star is claimed to be valued higher than Virgil Van Dijk.
Crystal Palace has a number of elite skills and potential as they strive to build for the present and the future.
Defender Marc Guehi is one of the club’s top players, and the 23-year-old’s skills are obviously catching the attention of many people.
Guehi is now worth £40 million, according to The Football Observatory CIES, while top Liverpool defender van Dijk is worth £30 million.
Van Dijk has won everything at Liverpool and finished third in the prestigious 2019 Ballon d’Or honours.
Van Dijk is still a terrific player at 32 years old, but his greatest years may be behind him. Guehi, meanwhile, is still a young prospect at the age of 23, but he has already demonstrated that he has a very high ceiling.
Despite his youth, the English defender is currently a regular in England squads and has already captained Palace on several occasions.
He is a ‘brilliant‘ defender and with him also having leadership qualities and a top potential, it should not be a shock to see him now it a higher value than the Dutch international.
Multiple prominent Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, were said to be interested in signing Guehi this summer, and it appears like the Eagles will struggle to keep him long-term.
It will be interesting to see how Guehi’s career develops, as he possesses all of the skills required to become a world-class centre-back.
