Ferrari drivers Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc were involved in a humorous oversight, which was corrected by officials.

In the lead-up to this weekend’s event, officials at the Japanese Grand Prix addressed a humorous lapse involving Ferrari drivers Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc.

The public became aware of this issue only after a viral photograph on Reddit circulated, which prominently revealed the location of Sainz’s banner above both sides of the Ferrari garage.

Sainz has received a lot of attention in recent weeks for his notable accomplishments, including as gaining pole position at Monza earlier this month and winning the race in Singapore last week.

His victory in Marina Bay was notable because it became him the only driver other than the Red Bull duo of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez to win a race in the 2023 season.

Those in charge of putting up the decorations at Suzuka were clearly swept up in the excitement around the 29-year-old driver’s recent wins.

They not only erected a banner with Sainz’s face and name above his allotted garage, but they also unintentionally did the same above Charles Leclerc’s.

A number of commenters on the viral post questioned how they had missed the gaffe for so long.

Thankfully, after being made aware of their blunder, high-visibility employees quickly took immediate action to conceal the banner featuring Sainz’s face and replace it with the correct Leclerc banner.

As they say, all’s well that ends well.
