Manchester City make a keen move on Sunderland prodigy who is rated as a world-class

Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Sunderland youth prospect Young, 16, who now plays for the Black Cats’ U18s.

Sunderland signed the goalie on a two-year scholarship this year, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2025.

However, Nixon reports on Patreon this morning that Premier League and European champions Manchester City are interested in signing the Englishman.

Young is another name emerging from Sunderland’s development program, with Chris Rigg being another bright and recent talent to emerge from the club’s young ranks.

And Young appears to be another talented goalkeeper to have come through the club’s junior system, following in the footsteps of Jordan Pickford and current first-team goalkeeper Anthony Patterson.

Young is clearly a gifted player. At the age of 16, he’s playing for the Black Cats’ U18s, which should tell us everything we need to know about the goalkeeper.

And, with Patterson established in the first team and now on a long-term contract, Young may be considering his options, with the likelihood of him finally being the club’s new no.1 seeming bleak.

Sunderland could make a decision on the player shortly, with Manchester City not the only club interested in the Black Cats starlet.

The emerging link, though, is another testament to Sunderland’s development system, which is now producing some very outstanding players, with Rigg having come into the first-team this season and demonstrating a lot of potential.

Sunderland remain in fourth place in the Championship league, with a home game against Cardiff City scheduled for this afternoon.
