Real potential he has earned my trust Newcastle manager praises the young outstanding talent

Newcastle United defeated Manchester City on Wednesday night after making ten substitutions.

While Man City were not at full strength for the Carabao Cup, Newcastle were even further away from their strongest XI.

Eddie Howe gave some new players a chance, with Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall making their debuts for the first time since moving to Tyneside in the summer. Livramento was especially impressive and was named Player of the Match.

There was also a debut for 17-year-old Lewis Miley, who was making only his second senior appearance for the club.

The teenager was outstanding in pre-season and deserved a chance in the cup, but was part of a Newcastle team that really struggled in the first half.

The Magpies couldn’t come close to Man City, who were fully dominating possession.

At halftime, Howe made a substitution, with Miley being replaced by Bruno Guimaraes. On a windswept night inside St James’ Park, the Brazilian was hugely influential, helping Newcastle surge to victory.

Miley delivered a dream result, but not a dream performance. His manager, on the other hand, has been effusive in his appreciation following his maiden senior start.

After the win against Manchester City, Howe spoke to BBC Newcastle. He was asked about Lewis Miley’s involvement.

“I thought it was a tough half for us,” he stated.

“However, that will be a fantastic experience for Lewy.” It’s wonderful when your debut goes off without a hitch. However, every now and again, you’ll have a premiere that demonstrates the difficulties of the level you’re playing.

“That has nothing to do with his performance, but that is what he faced tonight.” And sometimes you learn more from it than the other way around.

“He’s a player with exceptional talent and real potential.” That’s why I put my faith in him to play today. I don’t give opportunities merely for the sake of giving them. He earned it, and he will benefit from it.”

Miley, as Howe suggests, will benefit from the experience.

He didn’t do anything wrong against Manchester City. When he could get on the ball, which was unusual, he kept it brilliantly.

However, Newcastle as a whole struggled throughout the first half. Miley had little clout, but neither did the £55 million man Sandro Tonali who was with him.

Howe’s talent is demonstrated by the fact that he began Miley. He doesn’t just hand out opportunities, as he says.

Miley earned it, and last night was his first of many appearances in a black and white shirt. It was a memorable night for him and his family.
