Robert Lewandowski substituted with ankle injury in Barcelona’s clash with Porto

After suffering an ankle injury, Robert Lewandowski had to be substituted in the first half of Barcelona’s Champions League match against Porto on Wednesday.
The Poland international was injured in a challenge with David Carmo in the 27th minute of the encounter, but he was able to play for another seven minutes before being replaced.

Lewandowski eventually departed the field in the 34th minute, and Ferran Torres came on to replace him.

Barcelona went on to score late in the first period, with Torres maintaining his cool to hit the back of the net following good work from Ilkay Gundogan.

However, the Catalan club will be concerned about Lewandowski’s fitness, with the experienced striker now potentially facing a time on the sidelines.

The 35-year-old was later photographed with an ice pack wrapped around his injured ankle.

Barcelona will hope that the striker has suffered an impact injury, which would allow him to play in the team’s next match against Granada on Sunday night.

However, it now appears like the attacker will be out until after the international break, with Xavi’s side returning to play against Athletic Bilbao on October 22.

The Catalans will then face Shakhtar Donetsk in their third Champions League group stage match before hosting Real Madrid in La Liga at the end of the month.

Lewandowski has been in excellent form for Barcelona this season, scoring six goals and providing four assists across all competitions.

Xavi’s team is already without Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, and Raphinha due to injuries.
