Celtic face injury worry as sensational player resume from international duty after missing last month’s defeats to France and the Netherlands through injury

The 18-year-old had been sidelined by sickness in recent weeks, but he made a 45-minute cameo in Brighton & Hove Albion’s 6-1 thrashing of Aston Villa on Saturday.

Stephen Kenny’s side’s faint hopes of reaching the finals in Germany require victories over Greece at home on Friday, October 13th, and Gibraltar in Faro, Portugal three days later.

Ferguson is joined in the team by Mikey Johnstone and Liam Scales of Celtic, the latter of whom is set to make his debut after impressing in the Champions League group stages.

Sheffield United defender John Egan, who captained the team against France, and Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhn Kelleher are both injured.

Wrexham’s James McClean is also missing after announcing his intention to retire from international football, with his final game to be against New Zealand next month.
