The 23-year-old rejected Leeds is regarded as the worst Premier League signing of the summer.

Leeds United missed out on a number of Premier League recruits this summer.

Daniel Farke and his recruiting team worked tirelessly throughout the transfer window to bring in the best possible players to help Leeds return to the Premier League at the first attempt.

Unfortunately, when a Championship side targets the cream of the crop in the Championship, complications arise from the division further above.

Sheffield United beat Leeds to the acquisitions of Gustavo Hamer, Cameron Archer, and Luke Thomas, but Max Aarons was possibly the most frustrating saga.

Aarons was in Leeds for a physical after a £12 million contract with Norwich City was agreed upon, until Bournemouth swooped in at the 11th hour to lure him to the Premier League.

The 23-year-old had just finished a season in the Championship with Norwich following their relegation in 2022, and he was clearly keen to put his skills to the test again.

But things haven’t gone as planned for him, both personally and as a team, with Bournemouth yet to win in their first eight games.
But, perhaps more alarming for Aarons, according to WhoScored’s statistics, he is currently the lowest rated Premier League summer signing.

The website has compiled a comprehensive worst new signing XI that includes Kai Havertz, Ashley Young, and Pau Torres, but Aarons is the lowest of the bunch at 6.28.

Of course, his ranking is largely influenced by how bad the rest of his squad has been, but it doesn’t bode well for him.
