‘Sacked by Christmas say Celtic fans as Philippe Clement gets appointed by Rangers.

On Sunday, Celtic fans flocked to social media to respond to the news that Rangers had appointed Philippe Clement as their new manager.

Rangers have named the 49-year-old as their permanent replacement for Michael Beale, who was fired earlier this month.

The Belgian manager previously had success at Genk and Club Brugge before moving on to Monaco, where he was fired in June after finishing sixth in France.

He was signed as manager of Monaco in January 2022 and led the club to Champions League qualification in his first six months, but he failed to replicate similar success in his first full season.

Clement will now head Rangers’ drive in Scotland, as the Glasgow giants aim to narrow the seven-point gap to Celtic after only eight league games.

The former Monaco manager will also be faced with reviving Rangers’ Europa League campaign, with the club now third in their group after two games.

Celtic fans were quickly on the scene on social media to deliver their thoughts on their rivals’ latest managerial appointment.

Some fans were straight to the point – predicting that Clement would follow a similar path to Beale and be sacked before Christmas
