Max Verstappen spoke about his disagreement with his race engineer.

Despite frequently becoming “quite vocal” over the team radio, Max Verstappen insists that he and race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase “get on so well.”

Verstappen and Lambiase appear to frequently argue over the radio, leading to speculation that they don’t get along.

They’ve been working together since the three-time World Champion joined Red Bull during the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix, which he won.

Lambiase has often been very critical of the Dutchman over the radio and has informed him when he’s not done something right, as was the case at the Qatar Grand Prix where he failed to push for the opening corners during a 10-minute warm-up.

While Verstappen frequently responds to Lambiase’s honesty on the radio, he emphasizes that this is the type of relationship he seeks.

Because they’re both “strong” personas, the duo is often forthright with one another, whether they’re discussing a good or a negative.

Verstappen, on the other hand, believes it’s because they’re so similar that they get along so well and have had so much success together.

[It’s] Incredibly important,” Verstappen told Sky Sports F1.

I believe a race engineer must understand you, and I believe it is unusual to have such a close connection with an engineer.

“We got off to an incredible start, winning our first race together.”

“You have your tough moments as well, because I’m a strong character, he’s a strong character, but that’s what I like because I will say to him when it’s bad and when it’s good, and he says the same to me.” That’s why I believe we get along so well.

“That’s why we sometimes get quite vocal on the radio, and people think we don’t like each other, but we actually have a lot of respect for each other.”
