Rangers have reportedly made an “approach” for Brighton’s head of recruitment to becoming the club’s new technical director

’This is according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who broke the news on X.

Ibrox CEO James Bisgrove said yesterday, during the official unveiling of new boss Philippe Clement, that the Light Blues intend to employ a director of football soon.

Since the departure of Ross Wilson to Nottingham Forest, the club has been without a manager, with Michael Beale functioning without one during his stay.

“We feel we have a really strong group of leaders that will implement the strategy and make key decisions, whether it’s player contracts or player acquisitions,” Bisgrove said.

“But all of that said, we do believe a director of football, a technical director is something that would add additional value and it’s a live conversation that we are having at the moment.”

When asked when an appointment would be possible, he replied, “Certainly within the next few weeks, if not months.” We are currently having live chats.

There are variances in that, depending on who the board, football board, and Philippe agree is the best fit.

“But, I believe it will be imminent.”

Before joining Brighton in 2018, Jewell worked as an opposition scout for Newport County and as chief scout for Swindon Town.

After Dan Ashwork joined Newcastle, he rose through the club’s ranks to become head of recruitment.

The 31-year-old was instrumental in bringing Moises Caicedo to Chelsea for £115 million during the summer transfer window.
