Rodgers plea for more time before his date return as he tore his Achilles a few plays into his New York debut

For the New York Jets, one question keeps coming up: Will Aaron Rodgers truly make a comeback this season?

The star quarterback appeared to be recovering ahead of schedule after tearing his Achilles a few plays into his New York debut in Week 1.

Given the typical absence due to an Achilles tear, such a recovery would seem unlikely, yet during the Jets’ Monday Night Football loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, Rodgers once again grabbed attention.

When meeting with Chargers players on the field after the game, Los Angeles safety Derwin James could be heard asking Rodgers when he’d return, to which the quarterback responded: “Give me a few weeks.”

Now, while this may sound too good to be true, the 39-year-old apparently had creative surgery using a “speed bridge” as part of his recovery from his injuries.

According to the article, using a brace can help an athlete recover completely in as little as four months, which is a big advantage versus missing the entire season due to injury. However, there are no assurances regarding this schedule.

However, much as it was back in September when the report surfaced, Rodgers’ chances of playing this season will probably still depend on the Jets making the playoffs.

Is that possible? That result looks dismal as New York lost to the Chargers 27–6.

Despite their current 4-4 record, the Jets still have two road games remaining against the Miami Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns. They also host the Houston Texans, who, considering C.J. Stroud’s rise, are a formidable opponent on paper.

There’s an obvious Rodgers-sized void in the Jets offense, but it might take him until 2024 to fill it.
