Tottenham in rush for Celtic player as the 22-year-old would want to join Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham

Andy Walker believes Matt O’Riley would like to leave Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic team and join Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur.

Since moving to Celtic from MK Dons in 2022, the 22-year-old has been a great player, helping the team achieve the Treble under Ange Postecoglou last season.

However, it appears that under Brendan Rodgers’ direction, Matt O’Riley has improved his game; Chris Sutton has called the rising star from Denmark “the best player in Scotland.”

However, Andy Walker believes Matt O’Riley would like to leave and Celtic would be “well-rewarded” for it if a team like Tottenham Hotspur came calling for his talents, as he stated on Go Radio.

He has six goals and five assists from his 15 Premiership and Champions League games this season, including two in Europe.

Even if Celtic’s Champions League run has been lackluster thus far, players like Matt O’Riley are beginning to stand out.

Matt O’Riley heading to Spurs?
Walker remarked, “If you threw Spurs at him, if you threw another club at him.” Then, I believe he would be eager to leave. He signed a long-term deal with Celtic, therefore they will get paid well for him.

The team and the supporters are still reeling from their recent Champions League loss. Jamie Carragher responded to the 6-0 loss by raising questions that go beyond the manager.

Currently, few will be concerned about losing O’Riley because he has a contract that expires in 2027, thus his value is more than secure.

However, when supporters discuss going above and above to compete in Europe. Consider holding onto players like O’Riley even if Premier League teams with large budgets make an approach.

Yes, Celtic are in no power to do anything about it. But it would send out a real statement of intent if the club did that, not just with O’Riley, but with players like Reo Hatate also, who recently signed a new contract.
