Coventry City boss Mark Robins has revealed with great concerned the squad has been hit with an illness ahead of Stoke City

Before the Coventry City team takes on Stoke City, who have won their last four league games, this weekend, manager Mark Robins has disclosed that the team has been impacted by an illness.

After 15 games and a terrible run of play, the Sky Blues are currently four points above the relegation zone in 20th place in the Championship. The team’s most recent triumph occurred on home ground against Blackburn Rovers at the start of October.

Coventry has dropped four games in a row since defeating the Riversiders at the Ricoh Arena five weeks ago, managing only one point out of a possible 15. Ten of the last twelve points that were up for grabs have gone to Saturday’s opponents.

The head coach Robins has given an update on the team, stating that an illness has affected the camp. The hosts are the underdogs going into this match

The former Manchester United player stated the following during his pre-game press conference [quotes via Stoke-on-Trent Live]:

“People can’t work at their best while they’re sick in the camp, and that has an effect. Throughout the program, there have been some absences and cases of illness, and this time of year is never ideal.

According to Robins, Coventry City is virtually in perfect health, with Fabio Tavares and Kasey Palmer on the verge of a comeback:

Some people are beginning to show encouraging signs of recovery,” he remarked. “A fully healthy squad is now just Fabio Tavares (Achilles) and Kasey Palmer (adductor) away. Fabio is making progress. He’s on the turf, and when this international break ends, he will participate fully.

“And maybe Kasey will follow suit.”

For Coventry City supporters, who will be hoping their team will snap out of their current unsatisfactory run of form, this is not good news. A player’s ability to perform at a high level may be compromised if they are playing while unwell.

Although defeating Stoke will be difficult, a victory for the Sky Blues is becoming increasingly important given Rotherham United’s recent seven-day point surge.
