Few in doubts as Sheffield Wednesday players could face suspension risk in their survival quest ahead of Millwall on Saturday

10 appearances total for bookings; Paterson’s four cautions have occurred in 12 games to far. Five bookings are required before a player is suspended for one game. The deadline is reached when 19 league games have passed.

That follows the Owls’ December 2 home encounter against Blackburn Rovers. This implies that they will immediately receive a one-game ban if they choose to take up another card between now and then. Juan Delgado is another player with four yellow cards, but due to a hip injury, the Chilean is not anticipated to return until 2024.

Not far behind the three is Newcastle United’s Jeff Hendrick, on loan, who has already had three bookings in just seven games. By the 37th league game of the season, ten bookings will have accrued, marking the next barrier for suspension. Many players in the Championship have already received more than five bookings.

Ben Pearson of Stoke, Jannik Vestergaard of Leicester, and Sam Morsy of Ipswich have all received seven yellow cards in 14 games between them, and a number of other second-tier players have received five. Paterson and Windass will be trying to avoid this in tomorrow’s match against Millwall as well as in the following games against Birmingham, Leicester, and Rovers.

Due to a muscular ailment, Windass was unable to play against Bristol City last week; however, manager Danny Röhl is optimistic that he will be able to play against the Lions. Regarding Paterson, he has led the team in three of Röhl’s four games so far.
