WHAT OCCURED? A fire in The Turf’s boiler room threatened to close the pub, which is owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney and frequented by celebrities such as Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd. On Friday afternoon, depressed landlord Wayne Jones posted the disturbing news on social media, telling followers, “We’ve sadly had a fire in our boiler room.” Everyone is safe, but due to the damage, the Turf will be closed until further notice. I’ve had better Fridays thats for sure

However, a rally of local tradespeople resulted in an amazing turnaround, with the famous boozer reopening for business by Friday evening. “Wow, that was terrifying as s*it. We’ve gotten a fantastic response. Roger at CPC Electrical deserves a huge thank you. A true hero. We’ve had visitors and are legally permitted to trade. We’ll be open (somehow) at 4 p.m. Thank you for your help.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE: Jones discovered the marquee, which helps accommodate match-day crowds, had been vandalized overnight, prompting the fire drama. However, following a successful clean-up operation, the space was declared fit for use on Saturday, much to the relief of fans who flock to the pub that has become famous all over the world during Wrexham’s meteoric rise.
