Barcelona director Deco makes Ansu Fati admission amid impressive Brighton form as the 21 old shocked the football world

Fati, 21, stunned the football world by signing a season-long loan deal with the Seagulls last summer.

The Spaniard had a slow start to life on the south coast but has now settled in, scoring four goals and assisting once since the end of September.

His most recent goals came in consecutive 2-0 wins over Ajax in the Europa League, following consolation goals against Aston Villa and Manchester City.

Fati also assisted Simon Adingra for the second goal at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Fati, whose contract with Barcelona has a €1 billion release clause until 2027, was given the number 10 shirt at the Camp Nou following Lionel Messi’s departure to PSG.

In a recent interview, Barcelona director Deco – who played for the club for over 100 years before moving to Chelsea – was asked about the Fati’s future.

Deco told transfer expert Fabrizio Romano: “Of course, Ansu Fati can return here; he’s on loan to Brighton.” He’s young and content right now.

“I think Brighton was a good choice for regular football, and we’re keeping an eye on his progress.” It all depends on his performances. But Ansu could certainly return to Barcelona.”
