Injury Expert drops training return update on Leeds United defender as he’s unlikely to return to training for the next two weeks after an operation on his hernia

Dr. Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has joined us as an exclusive columnist. He’ll be giving his thoughts on the Leeds United injury situation every week…

According to Dr. Rajpal Brar, Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk is unlikely to return to training for the next two weeks following hernia surgery.

According to the injury expert, the Dutch defender will be resting and recovering from surgery for the time being.

Once he’s back to training, the intensity will gradually be ramped up in order to ensure he’s ready for first-team football again.

Brar, a Physical Therapist and Sports Scientist, said exclusively to MOT Leeds News about Struijk:

“He will be resting following his surgery, which means he may not be able to return to training for two weeks.”

“Once he is fully fit, it will be a gradual increase in intensity and activity to prepare him for the intensity of senior football.”

“Leeds are unlikely to throw Struijk straight back into the team just like that.”
Struijk has taken over the left side of defense and is now ahead of Liam Cooper in the pecking order.

However, following his injury, the Scotsman is likely to see more game time, while the Dutchman will have to compete for his spot when he returns to full fitness.

It remains to be seen whether Struijk will be out until December or if his recovery will be accelerated and he will be back in action after the international break.
