Newcastle United, according to 90min, are interested in signing Hugo Ekitike. The Magpies are looking to add to their squad during the winter transfer window, and the 21-year-old striker is among their targets.
Ekitike has been a member of Stade Reims since he was a child. He rose through the ranks at the club, eventually making it to the first team in the summer of 2021. His impressive rise and exciting performances earned him a summer 2022 transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.
This summer, the 21-year-old joined them on a loan deal with the option to make it permanent for €35 million. Things haven’t gone as planned since joining the French giants. He has only appeared in a few games.
He has only made one substitute appearance this season. The French youth international is not a key member of their first team, as they informed him at the end of last season.
Ekitike had the option of leaving the club in the summer, but he chose to stay and fight for his position. PSG even attempted to use him in a part-exchange deal with Eintracht Frankfurt to bring Randal Kolo Muani to the club.
The 21-year-old has decided to leave the club after failing to make the matchday squad since August. Newcastle United is one of the clubs interested in signing him. The Magpies wanted to sign him from Stade Reims in 2022.
They made a higher offer (€40 million) than PSG but were unable to secure his services. They are still interested in him and plan to make a move for the French youth international during the winter transfer window.
