Journalist Neil Moxley has given his verdict on Southampton star and with his contract expiring next summer Wolves could secure a cheap January deal for him

According to Neil Moxley of Give Me Sport, Southampton striker Che Adams could be a good signing for Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Scotland international already has top-flight experience from his time with Southampton prior to their relegation at the end of last season.

Under Ruben Selles, they seemed destined for relegation – and the south coast club were unable to get themselves out of trouble in the end, ending an 11-year stay at the top level.

Following their relegation, many players were linked with moves away from St Mary’s, including Romeo Lavia, Tino Livramento, and James Ward-Prowse, all of whom left before the end of the summer window, with the Saints not afraid to cash in on key players.

Others, including Nathan Tella, left as well, and it appeared that Adams would be in the running to secure an exit.

With 10 goals and three assists in 35 competitive appearances last season, he certainly proved his worth, and Everton appeared to be close to a deal for him.

With Beto at Goodison Park at the time, the Toffees were desperate for more attacking firepower.

What did Neil Moxley say about a potential Wolves move for Che Adams?

Sadly for Adams, despite this Telegraph report and his links to AFC Bournemouth and Wolves, a deal did not materialize in the end.

However, his contract expires next summer, which may allow an interested party to secure a cheap January deal for him.

Moxley is one of those who thinks the Scotland international would be a good fit for Wolves.

“If you’re facing a defender in front of you and you can get a shot off, that’s a pretty good piece of ammunition in your armour,” he explained.

“I’m not sure whether the Wolves will go after Adams. It’s similar to buying damaged goods; you buy it if you see some value in it. You may be shopping in the sales or otherwise and notice a mark on a jacket that you particularly like and think to yourself, ‘I can put up with that for the time being because I’m getting good value from it.’

“I think Adams would be a decent signing for Wolves, and it might give him a spark of life and, with somebody showing some confidence in him, it could work.”

Should Wolves make a January move for Che Adams?

At 27, Adams is approaching the peak years of his career and should only improve, which can only benefit his next club if he does leave in 2024.

He had a great start to the season, but hasn’t been able to score much since.

However, he has demonstrated his ability to perform at the highest level and could be an excellent squad player at Molineux.

Given his contract situation, he isn’t likely to be too expensive, so he could be a better addition than many people believe.

He has previously played in the Midlands for Birmingham City, so he should be able to quickly adjust to his new surroundings.
