Cowboys QB Dak Prescott continues to solidify himself in franchise history after tying Tony Romo in an impressive category vs Commanders

Many NFL fans enjoy rooting for the Dallas Cowboys to lose, but they have been at the center of a couple of the more impressive underdog stories in recent memory. They came together on Thanksgiving Day to play the Washington Commanders.

According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, 2016 fourth-round pick Dak Prescott has tied former undrafted QB Tony Romo for the most seasons with 20 touchdown passes or more. Prescott accomplished the feat near the end of the first quarter, connecting with running back Rico Dowdle for a 15-yard touchdown. Romo witnessed everything from the CBS broadcast booth.

While both men are constantly mocked for their lack of postseason success, their unlikely journey to becoming multi-time Pro Bowlers and consistent producers deserves to be recognized. On the Cowboys’ next possession, Prescott threw touchdown No. 21, a wide-open 31-yarder to veteran Brandin Cooks, to give the team a double-digit lead over Washington.

Questions about his ability to perform in crunch time remain, but he is gradually winning over critics by reducing turnovers (six interceptions) and leading more successful drives. The quarterback position should be the deciding factor in this year’s NFC Playoffs, so the 30-year-old must maintain this level of performance.

Dak Prescott and the Cowboys are currently leading their game against the Commanders. The upcoming games against the Seattle Seahawks, Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, and Miami Dolphins will provide him with additional opportunities to gain confidence and persuade skeptics. However, as Tony Romo can attest, none of those potential victories will be meaningful if they are followed by postseason blunders.
