Gary Lineker has backtracked on his previous prediction for Wolves’ Premier League campaign as he makes a renewed call.

Gary Lineker has reversed his previous prediction for Wolves’ Premier League season, making a new prediction.

The Wolves’ turnaround under Gary O’Neil has been both impressive and unexpected by many.
Taking over just days before the Premier League season began, O’Neil overcame some poor early results to put Wolves in a strong position.

This transformation has seen Old Gold repeatedly praised, with Paul Merson the most recent to praise this ‘outstanding’ Wolves side.

The miraculous comeback against Spurs before the international break was the pinnacle of O’Neil’s reign to date. Wolves won 2-1 thanks to two late goals, both of which were assisted by Pablo Sarabia.

Now, as the Premier League returns, Wolves has received additional praise.
Gary Lineker admitted on The Rest is Football podcast that naming Wolves as relegation favourites in his pre-season predictions was incorrect.

“Our predictions were just after (Julen) Lopetegui kind of scarpered and they were managerless,” he went on to say.

“I’m just trying to defend myself; Gary O’Neil has come in and done an excellent job.” They are 12th in the table, but keep in mind that they have had some VAR decisions go against them, which have probably cost them five points.

“I think they play good football overall, and I think they’ll finish in the lower mid-table like they are now.” I’ll admit I _______ up and got it wrong.”

If results go their way this weekend, Wolves could have a chance to enter the Premier League top 10 on Monday night.

Eight points in the last five games and only one defeat, which was tainted by poor VAR decisions.

Reaching the top 10, even if only temporarily, would be a massive statement for Wolves, and with a third of the season remaining, there’s no reason why this can’t continue.

O’Neil deserves his flowers, and it’s great to see him finally getting them from experts.
