Leeds United loanee Marc Roca has been speaking about his future and confirmed he is in discussions over a possible permanent move to La Liga as he displayed his quality this season

Despite a frustrating 1-1 draw at Rotherham United on Friday night, Leeds United gained ground on second-placed Ipswich Town over the weekend. Crysencio Summerville gave the Whites an early lead in the first half in South Yorkshire.

Farke’s side had chances to extend their lead but failed to capitalize, as the Millers equalised late in the first half through Hakeem Odoffin. The Whites were unable to respond in the second half but gained a point over Ipswich, who were defeated at West Brom on Saturday night. Southampton dropped points as well, as they were held to a draw by Huddersfield Town. They are still one point behind Leeds.

The Whites will play Swansea City at home on Wednesday evening. And, as the Whites prepare for that match, we’ve compiled the most recent Elland Road news below.

Marc Roca, a Leeds United loanee, has spoken about his future and confirmed he is in talks with the La Liga club about a possible permanent move. The Spaniard joined the Whites in the summer of 2022 from Bayern Munich and is under contract at Elland Road until the end of the 2025-26 season.

He left Leeds on a season-long loan after the club’s relegation and has impressed since joining Real Betis. Unconfirmed reports last week claimed the clubs were in talks about a long-term contract. Roca was one of several players to leave Elland Road, but despite the departures, Leeds have had a strong start to the Championship season, sitting third in the table after 17 games.

Roca told PTV Sevilla about his future: “It is true that we are in contact with the club.” We’ll see how the talks progress, but I’m very happy here.”

Leeds defender Junior Firpo has hailed forward Georginio Rutter as ‘unplayable’ and drawn comparisons to Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembele. Rutter endured a difficult start to his Leeds career as he was signed for a club record fee and thrown into the thick of the relegation battle. Dembele made the move to PSG from Barcelona in the summer for around £44m, having joined the Spanish club from Borussia Dortmund for a staggering £135m fee in 2017.

However, the Frenchman has proven his worth this season, endearing himself to supporters with his workrate and creative displays that have helped Farke’s side finish third. Firpo has praised his performances thus far. “The thing about him (Rutter) is that he can use both feet,” he explained. Because of this ability, he is unplayable. He’s good, and Dembele is another one I see with that. You’re not sure if he’s a lefty or a righty. Georgie has it as well.”
