Sheffield Wednesday injury update: According to the Sheffield Star the 18-year-old player has undergone surgery on a hernia and is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Sean Fusire, a Sheffield Wednesday under-21 player, is set to miss a significant amount of time.

According to the Sheffield Star, the 18-year-old has undergone hernia surgery and will miss the majority of the season.

He is expected to return in time for the under-21s’ final game of the season in May.

Fusire is a midfielder who has been outstanding over the last year.

Last season, he made his senior debut for Wednesday and also spent pre-season in Spain with the first team.

“Understand #SWFC’s U21 captain, Sean Fusire, has had to undergo a hernia operation and will now face months on the sidelines as he recovers,” Sheffield Star journalist Joe Crann wrote on his X account (formerly known as Twitter).

“There’s a chance he’ll be able to play again before the season ends.” He had a productive 2023, but it came to an end.”

Fusire was named captain of the Under-21s by Under-21s manager Neil Thompson after impressing with his ability and attitude last season.

He’ll be a big loss for the under-21s, who are on a title charge. Thompson’s team is currently third in the league, eight points behind league leaders Sheffield United.

Wednesday’s next game is against Hull City on Tuesday night, and they will be looking to rebound from their weekend defeat against Fleetwood Town.

But it will be difficult without Bailey Cardarmarteri’s goals, who will most likely be involved with the first team when they face league leaders Leicester City on Wednesday night.
