Michael Carrick told his press conference on Thursday that he is fully aware of facing a team like Leeds United that boasts several Premier League players.

Michael Carrick stated at his press conference on Thursday that he is fully aware that his Middlesbrough team will be facing a team with a number of Premier League players in Leeds United.

Boro and Carrick meet at Elland Road, where the Boro manager has joked about the kind of atmosphere he will experience after playing nearly 500 times for Manchester United.

Boro are expected to finish in the top six after reaching the play-offs last season, and Leeds are a strong bet for automatic promotion at the end of the season, so this will be a hotly contested match.

Boro, of course, will be without Sam Greenwood, who has been in excellent form for the Teesside club recently. According to Boro’s YouTube channel, Carrick spoke ahead of the game during Thursday’s press conference.

When asked about the quality of the Leeds squad, he stated that given Boro’s recent victories over Leicester and Southampton, his team is confident going into the game – but is aware of the challenge.

“They’re a very good team, mostly made up of Premier League players – or players who have played in the Premier League.” It makes a difference. The boys performed admirably against Southampton and Leicester.

“We’re capable of playing against downtrodden teams.” We’ll have a chance if we play well. It makes no difference if you beat Preston. It’s another tough game for us, one of the toughest we’ll face,” he said.

Leeds United do have a Premier League team. Some argue that it is even more powerful than the team that attempted to stay in the Premier League last season. Most top-tier clubs would be threatened by our attack.

A victory on Saturday would be huge. It would not only send a message to Boro and the rest of the Championship. However, Leicester travels to in-form West Brom and could drop points. So, a good chance.
