Max Verstappen said Daniel Ricciardo transformed into a “terrorist” as they battle on the race track again despite the F1 season coming to an end

Daniel Ricciardo transformed into a “terrorist” during a karting event at the 2023 Honda Thanks Day, according to Max Verstappen. During the race, the AlphaTauri driver purposefully spun the reigning world champion around after cutting a corner to catch up to him.

Ricciardo made a beeline for his former teammate during the event’s karting segment, deliberately sending him into a spin with a nudge from behind before disappearing up the road to hunt down more drivers.

Verstappen shared his thoughts on the incident after the session, saying, “It started off quite well, but then Daniel decided to be a terrorist.” He was literally attempting to kill everyone in the area.”

The karting was one of many festivities taking place during 2023’s edition of the Honda Thanks Day event, which took place at the Mobility Resort Motegi – home to the Twin Ring Motegi circuit that hosts both MotoGP and Super Formula races.

In addition to Verstappen and Ricciardo, the former’s teammate Sergio Perez was in attendance as part of his Red Bull duties, as were Yuki Tsunoda and eight-time MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez.

Verstappen missed the annual Autosport Awards, where he was named International Racing Driver of the Year after a fan vote, because he was in Japan performing contractual obligations for Red Bull.

After the most dominant individual season in F1 history, the 26-year-old beat out IndyCar champion Alex Palou and Formula E champion Jake Dennis for the award. Verstappen won 19 of the possible 22 Grands Prix on his way to the title with several rounds to spare.

Verstappen spoke about his record-breaking year after the season finale in Abu Dhabi a little more than a week ago, saying, “I have to thank everyone at Red Bull, it’s been an incredible year.” It will be difficult to replicate this year, but we had a great time.

“We know it will be difficult to have another season like this. You always want to do better, but doing better does not always mean winning races and championships.

“We’re hard at work on a very competitive car for next year.” All of the other teams will undoubtedly try to beat us next year, but we are prepared for the battle and will enjoy this year as well.”
