Tragedy on NFL field as a sideline official at a game between the New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions suffered an apparent broken leg after getting run into

Monday’s game between the New Orleans Saints and the Detroit Lions provided yet another reminder that no one is safe on an NFL field, as a sideline official suffered an apparent broken leg after being run into by Saints running back Alvin Kamara.

During the second quarter, Kamara ran left and was pushed out of bounds, where he collided with an official’s leg at the Superdome in New Orleans.

The worker attempted to jump out of the way, but was unable to do so and fell to the ground, with a camera shot showing his leg bent at an awkward angle and the worker in pain.

The game was called off while the official sought medical attention.

After the collision, Kamara briefly appeared to check on the man, but play eventually resumed.

The Lions then defeated the Saints 33-28, improving to 10-3 on the season and dropping New Orleans to 5-7.

Kamara had a good day overall, with 109 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns on 20 touches.
