Carlton Palmer has urged Sheffield Wednesday to get rid of Jeff Hendrick – and their other four loan signings.

Carlton Palmer has urged Sheffield Wednesday to release Jeff Hendrick, as well as the club’s other four loan signings.

The pundit told Football League World that the summer signing had had no’significant impact’ this season.
David Downes spent four years as Sheffield Wednesday’s Head of Recruitment before joining Blackpool in June, though the Owls’ transfer window didn’t appear to be any less successful without him.

While the club brought in some exciting young players such as Djeidi Gassama, Di’Shon Bernard, and Anthony Musaba, their loan market search was less successful.

Sheffield Wednesday loaned out John Buckley, Jeff Hendrick, Ashley Fletcher, Momo Diaby, and Devin Vasquez, with the five players making a total of 23 starts.

Vasquez has the most starts (9), but he has been on the bench since the defeat to West Brom in October.

Buckley has been in and out of the team but has not helped the Owls’ midfield, while Hendrick’s only real contribution has been his equalizer against Leicester City.

Diaby has played 65 minutes this season, while Fletcher has been as expectedly disappointing.

Danny Rohl, according to Carlton Palmer, should fire all five of them next month. “Sheffield Wednesday’s summer transfers have had no significant impact on the season so far,” he said.

“Danny Rohl is facing a pivotal January transfer window.” They loaned out five players, and in the EFL, loans are limited to five spots in the matchday squad.

“Jeff Hendrick, the midfielder on loan from Newcastle, has made no impact at all, and the Owls should consider terminating his loan.”

“Another player who came in on loan from Blackburn with high expectations, John Buckley, has had no impact.”

“I believe Blackburn will recall him regardless, which benefits the Owls because the whole point of him going out on loan was to get game time, and he is not playing.”

“To be fair, Momo Diaby was the only loanee who impressed me, but he’s only played 65 minutes.”

“I would terminate all the loans and recruit better so that Danny has a fresh clean sheet of paper to bring in the players that he believes can help him to stay in the league.”

Carlton Palmer is probably correct, and Sheffield Wednesday should recall at least a few of their loanees.

Ashley Fletcher has been a complete waste of time, and the Yorkshire club may be forced to part ways with John Buckley.

If Danny Rohl is to lead the team to safety, he will need his own players, and due to a lack of cash, the loan market may be the best option for the German.
