Newcastle will cling on to any advantage with Tottenham in danger as key player sideline ahead of Newcastle clash

Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur both lost last night ahead of their match on Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs have now gone five games without a win, while Newcastle has only one away win, so neither team will be full of confidence heading into Sunday’s match.

While Eddie Howe is dealing with a slew of injuries, Ange Postecoglu is waiting to see if key player Son Heung-min will be able to play after suffering a knock late against West Ham last night.

Son was in some discomfort after picking up a back injury towards the end of the game last night, and although the South Korean was able to come out and partake in interviews at full-time and insist he’s fine, Ange Postecoglu is being a bit more pragmatic.

“No update yet. We’ll see how he is. He was a bit sore after the game. There’s a couple of them, fair to say, who were a bit sore. We’ll wait to see what the outcome is in terms of Sunday but there’s nothing apart from Sonny that looks too significant.”

While we hope Son’s back injury isn’t serious enough to keep him out of Sunday’s game, we’re not above hoping that certain players can’t play against us.

Let’s be honest, after watching that episode of The Walking Dead last night that was the last 10-15 minutes of the match against Everton, we could use any advantage we can get for Sunday.

Eddie Howe could potentially bring back Sean Longstaff, which would at least provide a solid option off the bench, which has been sorely lacking in recent weeks.

We have a good record against Tottenham and a decent record at the new stadium, but our away form has been terrible this season. Anything is possible.
