A report that has emerged this morning appears to have detailed why Nottingham Forest haven’t sacked Steve Cooper already

A report published this morning appears to have detailed why Nottingham Forest have yet to fire Steve Cooper. The incumbent has been under fire following a winless streak of 12 games.

During a midweek round of games last week, Forest were defeated 5-0 by Fulham. As a result of that result, Evangelos Marinakis threw away his matchday pass in disgust, sparking intense speculation.

Cooper, on the other hand, oversaw a spirited performance over the weekend. They drew 1-1 with Wolves, and afterwards, Harry Toffolo discussed an important conversation he had with the squad and Miltos Marinakis, Evangelos’ son.

The report explains why Cooper has not been fired.
A report from The Athletic today appears to have revealed why Forest has stuck with Cooper. The Reds face Tottenham on Friday night, and the 44-year-old appears to be in charge.

Paul Taylor has his finger on the City Ground pulse, and he believes Marinakis is aware of a fan backlash if he fires the popular Cooper.

He believes that firing Cooper would be viewed as a far more significant step by Marinakis than firing any of the other five managers fired under his watch.

Despite Forest’s struggles this season, the fans have been unwavering in their support for Cooper. Fans continuously sang his name at Fulham and Wolves, and Marinakis took notice.

Marinakis is correct in giving Cooper time at Forest.
Marinakis has had some detractors in the past, but he’s demonstrated in the last three years that he’s eager to learn. Forest have struggled in the Premier League on three occasions, but the owner has stuck with Cooper.

If the time comes for Marinakis to say goodbye to his current boss, few will argue that he hasn’t had enough time. Cooper is still learning as a head coach, but he has had plenty of practice time at Forest.

As a result, it’s a thankless position for the hierarchy to be in at the moment. Marinakis is in a damned-if-he-does and damned-if-he-doesn’t situation with the Forest boss right now and a big win against Tottenham could help calm things down a little bit.
