The Newcastle United Head Coach with a couple of new concerns ahead of a busy schedule upcoming.

Following the match against AC Milan, Newcastle United released an official injury update.

Newcastle United’s Head Coach has a couple of new worries ahead of a busy schedule.

Eddie Howe provides the following official Newcastle United injury update:

“Due to injury, I had to make two changes I didn’t want to make.”

“I believe Kieran Trippier picked up something in the first half, but I’m not sure what it is at the moment.”

“He wanted to continue after halftime, but he then indicated that he couldn’t [after 63 minutes].”

“Anthony Gordon claimed to have ‘awareness’ of his hamstring.

“I am not sure if it’s an injury, because he could still sort of play, but he couldn’t play to the level that he has played for a long time.”

It’s great to see Callum Wilson, Sean Longstaff, and Dan Burn return to the matchday squad.

Not so good if Newcastle loses Anthony Gordon and Kieran Trippier as well.

My gut feeling is that neither will be serious problems and, fingers crossed, will fall into the ‘got a knock’ category.

I was already thinking that Kieran Trippier’s suspension for Fulham on Saturday wasn’t such a bad thing because I thought he could use a rest. The Premier League’s five yellow cards have taken the decision out of Eddie Howe’s hands. I believe this even more now, even if it turns out to be unimportant in the case of the England defender.

In the case of Anthony Gordon, hopefully Eddie Howe’s decision to sub him has prevented an injury. Everything is crossed that Gordon’s hamstring ‘awareness’ proves to be just that.
