Nottingham Forest supporters have delivered their verdict on Nuno Espirito Santo following claims he is a “top candidate” if the club decide to move on from Steve Cooper.

Nottingham Forest fans have spoken out on Nuno Espirito Santo, claiming he is a “top candidate” if the club decides to replace Steve Cooper.

Forest are “in contact” with the former Tottenham and Wolves manager, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. After their recent run of form, in which they won only one game in 13, speculation about Cooper’s future has grown.

Their most recent 2-0 home loss to Tottenham has dropped them to 17th in the table. Cooper led the Reds to the top flight, where they finished 16th in the league last season.

Here’s what the Reds fans have been saying on social media…

“No, no, no, no, no, no,” Gfiftw says. This is ridiculous. Why? This is neither a good appointment nor a step in the right direction. All of the attack-minded coaches we’ve been linked with are interested in Nuno. Is it just a one-year deal to keep the club from relegation this season? This is not a long-term strategy or a desired course of action. This is a step back and not necessarily an upgrade.”

JWK18: “This management change should have happened weeks ago.” The players have grown accustomed to playing negative football.”

“What will it achieve, whether it’s Nuno or anyone else?” Sandycoot asks. The players will have to adjust to a new system, more lineup changes, and work with a coach whose track record in the Premier League is no better than Cooper’s. SC is a true credit to the club, the city, and the fans. Those who constantly complain on this platform should be cautious about what they wish for. What Marinakis needs to do is put an end to the speculation and declare that Cooper has his full support, as he did last season. If he can’t do that, he should say so right now.”

: “Not my choice but he certainly had Wolves rocking, one thing is for sure something has to change or we are back in the Championship.”

“Have we fallen that far that the performance in the last couple of games is to be accepted as good?” Rednz asks. “They are a shambles, running around like headless chickens, with no idea what or how to score or defend set pieces.” We are currently the worst performing team in the Premier League by a country mile, so there is a lot that needs to change. Bournemouth gives us the opportunity to put things in place to progress; if we don’t, we’re out, so it’s up to Coops and the players to show us what they’re really made of.”

Camoman53 said: “No thanks, he didn’t set the premier league alight last time he worked in this country!”

“This would be an odd choice; I’m not sure he’d be any better than Cooper.” “I’m surprised Nigel Clough hasn’t been mentioned.”

He said, “He’s been successful everywhere he’s been… NOT.”

PortugalFan: “Not good, please no.”

Snakelegs: “He has a good track record in management.” “I didn’t get much of a chance at Spurs.”

“Do I wish Cooper could turn things around?” says Joseph Burns. Yes. Do I believe he will? No. Is Nuno Espirito Santo my first choice for a replacement? No Is he still an improvement? Yes, that’s all for the time being.”

“What’s the big deal with Nuno Espirito Santo?” Jonathan Hill asks. Struggled at Spurs (as did Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte), but at Wolves, he had a 47% win percentage over 200 games, was defensively solid, and led them to Europe.”

“Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolves scored 36 goals in his final season with them,” says Chris Kearney. Last season, Steve Coopers Forest scored 38 goals. “Upgrade or downgrade?”

Jason said, “I’m not massively in favour of NES, but he has a much better win ratio than Cooper in the same league.”

Neil Bower says, “Downgrade.”
