The Seahawks are almost assured of a postseason berth as they storm out a dramatic change playoff fate with win over Eagles

The Seattle Seahawks defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 20-17 to snap a four-game losing streak. Drew Lock engineered the game-winning 92-yard touchdown drive, which was capped off by an incredible catch by Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Julian Love, who previously played for the New York Giants, clinched the victory with an incredible interception in the final seconds.

What does all of this mean? It means the Seahawks’ playoff hopes are still alive. Several positive outcomes occurred over the weekend, and now the Seahawks have finally helped themselves by winning again.

The Seahawks will finish the season against the Titans, Steelers, and Cardinals. If Seattle wins, only the most bizarre of scenarios could prevent them from earning a wild card berth. This would entail:

—The Rams triumph; —The Vikings triumph

—Despite losing both games to the Vikings, the Lions won the NFC North at 11-6.

A three-way tiebreaker between the Rams, Vikings, and Seahawks would eliminate Seattle.

In other words, if either the Rams or the Vikings lose even one game, Seattle advances to the playoffs by virtue of their superior record.

The New York Times playoff machine gives Seattle a 45% chance of making the playoffs, which is up from 40% just a few days ago.

What an evening! Let’s put the draft discussion on hold for the evening and celebrate.
