Many fans felt that Neville had gone over the top with his criticism.

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner cost his club a goal against Manchester United on Saturday.

Alejandro Garnacho intercepted a weak ball by the USMNT goalkeeper, allowing Marcus Rashford to equalize in the 78th minute.

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville was commentating on the game for Sky Sports and was harsh in his criticism of Turner.

Neville called Turner’s gaffe a “scandal” and said the 29-year-old was “useless with his feet.”

“It’s absolutely ridiculous,” the former right-back continued.

Many fans felt that Neville had gone over the top with his criticism.

“Gary Neville going on like Matt Turner just murdered someone,” one tweeted. It’s strange.”

“Gary Neville is so insulting,” said another. I understand Matt Turner committed a mistake, but the comments he says are heinous.”

Rashford scored 14 minutes after Nicolas Dominguez put Forest up 1-0.

Forest went on to win 2-1 thanks to a late strike from Morgan Gibbs-White.

Neville made his own gaffe following Gibbs-White’s score, appearing to forget the name of the keeper he had just spent 60 seconds slapping.

“The most relieved man in the ground will be Matt Taylor,” Neville went on to say.

Turner then made a spectacular stop in extra time to keep his team’s 2-1 lead.

What was Neville’s reaction? He went on to say: “Thankfully for Turner, it was right at him” .
