BBC pundit admits he was wrong about Nottingham Forest man

Glenn Murray claims that Nuno Espirito Santo, the head coach of Nottingham Forest, has already proven him wrong. Over the holiday season, the Portuguese manager has won two games against Newcastle and Manchester United.

Forest were outstanding in both games under Espirito Santo. In truth, they were hard done by against Bournemouth when referee Rob Jones made a stupid decision that reduced them to 10 men for nearly an hour.

Murray expressed doubts about replacing Steve Cooper at Forest with Espirito Santo last month. He now has no doubt that Forest made the right decision and has praised the new head coach for his effect at the club.

Espirito Santo has only been in charge of Forest for three games, but so far, so good. Beating Newcastle and Manchester United should instill confidence in the team, and Murray says he’s been impressed.

“I must say that when they got rid of Steve Cooper, I did wonder about them,” he said on the Monday Night Club podcast. I assumed they’d be safe in the Premier League under Steve Cooper, and he did a tremendous job.

“I think you have to be careful what you wish for with Nottingham Forest and where you want to go because the second season in the Premier League is often the most difficult for me.”

“But, I have to say, Nuno appears to have proven my theory wrong, he’s settled in very well and he’s offered a little bit more than Steve Cooper was, certainly going forward.”

Congratulations to the new management. To come in and elevate people’s emotions in such a way is a tribute to the man, and it’s an exciting moment to be a Forest fan right now. However, there is still work to be done, and Forest head coach Espirito Santo will have difficulties as a result of key players departing for the African Cup of Nations.

Since joining the club, Espirito Santo has done a lot of good. He’s given Gonzalo Montiel a reprieve, and he’s also allowed Morgan Gibbs-White a free role during the Forest onslaught.

The Forest boss, on the other hand, has work to do. Espirito Santo is aware that his squad is only five points out of the relegation zone, and that Forest still has work to do.

The gaffer, on the other hand, will leave no stone unturned. Although his work at Forest will be remembered forever, Cooper’s fan base will swiftly forget about him if this trend continues.
