Ipswich Town are in advanced talks over a deal for the 26 year Blackburn Rovers captain and a deal is expected to be sealed today according to TWTD.

According to TWTD, Ipswich Town are in early talks with Blackburn Rovers captain Lewis Travis about a loan signing, and a deal is expected to be finalized today.

Ipswich Town are aiming to add players this winter in order to enhance their Championship promotion push. Their form deteriorated during the hectic holiday season, but they remain second on the table.

Injuries have been a problem for Kieran McKenna and company recently, so new recruits will provide some much-needed depth at Portman Road. It has now been reported that the Tractor Boys could complete a high-profile signing as soon as today.

TWTD reports that Ipswich Town are close to signing Blackburn Rovers midfielder Travis on loan. Advanced negotiations are underway, and the move is anticipated to be announced today.

Millwall and Preston North End are also said to be interested, but Town appear to be the frontrunners.

Travis, the captain of Blackburn Rovers, has been a significant figure at Ewood Park for some years. Since rising through the club’s youth divisions, the midfielder has appeared 224 times for the first squad and has proven to be a reliable presence in the middle of the park.

Sondre Tronstad and Adam Wharton, on the other hand, have emerged as Jon Dahl Tomasson’s first-choice midfielders. Travis has spent the last few months on the bench, occasionally coming back into the side to provide cover in full-back situations.

Given the dominant duo of Sam Morsy and Massimo Luongo, a move to Ipswich Town may not guarantee additional game time. His ability to cover at fullback, however, will be essential, as will his experience and leadership.

It allows Travis to have a more significant effect elsewhere, and with McKenna’s side vying for promotion, the move is obviously appealing.
