West Ham have remained silent where David Moyes is concerned as the Hammers manager’s current deal finishes in June of this year

When a player is nearing the end of their contract, clubs are now typically making decisions well in advance to maintain continuity; yet, West Ham have remained silent on David Moyes.

The current contract of the Hammers manager expires in June of this year, and the uncertainty surrounding whether or not the Scot will stay at the club is probably harming the club’s transfer business.

As a player, why would you want to sign with the east Londoners if you could find yourself in a situation where a new manager arrives and you’re suddenly no longer the flavor of the month?

There does appear to be some clarity surrounding the situation now, however, and it couldn’t be more timely given that we’re slap, bang in the middle of the current January window.

“West Ham will certainly discuss a new contract with David Moyes, and he’s expected to be involved in transfer decisions alongside Tim Steidten,” Fabrizio Romano revealed in his exclusive Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside.
“In terms of names we will see in the next days but the first mission was to get a good amount of money for Kehrer, and that was a successful one for Steidten.”

What is unclear at this point is whether or not the Hammers have any incoming signings lined up.

With Kehrer already sold, players like Danny Ings and others could be released this month, but Moyes will still need to replace those players.

It will be interesting to see how the London Stadium fans respond when any new arrangement is finalized.

Moyes has probably been West Ham’s most successful manager in recent years, but his footballing approach hasn’t always been what the Hammers’ paying fans want to watch.
