Bristol Rovers dealt big blow with Hull City stance on 27-year-old as City are reluctant to lose their price assets in this transfer window

Hull City are hesitant to lose Greg Docherty in this transfer window, according to HullLive.

Hull City must make a choice on the midfielder’s future amid interest from other clubs.

Docherty, 27, is coveted by Charlton Athletic and Bristol Rovers in League One, according to The Sunday Mirror’s Darren Witcoop on X.

However, according to HullLive’s most recent report on his condition, the Tigers are not ‘keen’ on letting him depart just now, with Jean Michael Seri and Adama Traore away at AFCON with Ivory Coast and Mali, respectively.

Hull would be left bereft of options in midfield if Docherty were to leave this winter.

Although he is no longer assured regular starts at the MKM Stadium due to stiff competition from players like Seri, Traore, Regan Slater, and Tyler Morton for a place in the starting XI, he still provides useful competition and depth in the middle of the park.

The Tigers may require him as cover this season as they aim for a spot in the Championship play-offs. They are now one point off of the top six.

Docherty’s contract expires at the end of the season and he will be a free agent in June, leaving Liam Rosenior with a huge choice to make about his long-term future in East Yorkshire.

The Scotsman joined Hull after they were relegated from the second division under Grant McCann in 2020, and he helped them earn a quick promotion in his first year. To date, he has appeared in 136 games for them in all competitions, 10 of which have occurred this season.
