He’s been gone from Sheffield Wednesday for almost two years but the Owls may well be keeping an eye on the 23 year old current situation.

The 23-year-old Nigerian joined Accrington Stanley at the start of 2022, and has since made 50 appearances for the club in League One, League Two, and different cup tournaments.

Cheltenham Town, a third-tier club, have expressed an interest in offering him the opportunity to return to the division above, and have been granted permission to speak with the former Everton youth about a possible move.

The Owls are thought to have included a condition in the deal that saw Adedoyin move to the Wham Stadium that stated they would be entitled to a portion of any profit made by Accrington from the sale if he left.

In addition to Cheltenham’s interest, it is said that Turkish club Hatayspor has been monitoring his situation and is considering a move that would see Adedoyin team up with friend and former Owls player Fisayo Dele-Bashiru in the Super Lig.

Whether the player moves or not remains to be seen, but in the current market, a little extra cash would surely not go wrong if the club saw any as a result of a non-existent transaction.

Wednesday made their first loan signing of the January window on Monday afternoon, signing James Beadle, but Danny Röhl is anxious to add more before the window closes.
