The Tigers have flexed their muscles early on in the January transfer window by sealing quite a coup

Hull City have signed Liverpool midfielder Fabio Carvalho, who will be at the MKM Stadium until the end of the season. The kid is expected to be called up immediately for the game against Norwich City on Friday night.

City have moved rapidly to sign the 21-year-old, who joined Liverpool for around £7 million from Fulham last season and spent the first part of the season with Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.

Carvalho returned to Merseyside last month when his contract was terminated, and he has since been connected with a number of clubs, including Premier League clubs Wolves and Nottingham Forest, as well as Championship rivals Leicester City, Southampton, and Leeds United.

Acun Ilicali, his recruitment team, and head coach Liam Rosenior have been working hard in recent days to reach an agreement with Liverpool. And, according to Hull Live, Carvalho was at the MKM Stadium on Saturday to witness his new colleagues fight back to earn an FA Cup replay against Birmingham City thanks to Matty Jacob’s 87th-minute equalizer.

Carvalho is said to have stated his preference to join City, while Liverpool has been impressed with the manner the club has boosted Tyler Morton’s career since his deadline day arrival in East Yorkshire last summer. Morton has played 20 Championship games for City and made his debut – and scored – for England’s Under-21s.

The Fulham-born former Olivais Sul and Benfica academy product joined the club in 2015 and has represented England at Under-16, 17, and 18 levels before joining Portugal’s Under-21 squad.

The signing of Carvalho is regarded as a huge coup by MKM Stadium officials, and he will not be the club’s final signing of the January transfer window. City have already signed striker Billy Sharp, who made his debut off the bench against Birmingham, and are in talks with Fortuna Sittard about signing goalkeeper Ivor Pandur.

Due to Liam Delap’s knee injury, discussions have taken place about bringing in more cover to compensate in the top half of the pitch. While the club is still hoping to sign Manuel Benson from Burnley, he is not their only target in that part of the field. Signing a left-back is also a priority for the club, with two candidates being seriously considered.
