The 18 year old Royal Antwerp Player was strongly urged to choose Brighton over Manchester United or Chelsea

Arthur Vermeeren of Royal Antwerp has been advised not to join a top club such as Manchester United or Chelsea and instead to choose Brighton & Hove Albion if given the opportunity.

On Het Laatste Nieuws, Steven Defour, Wesley Sonck, and Marc Degryse were having a debate, and one of the issues they discussed was the 18-year-old’s next step.

The midfielder, who made his professional debut last season, has been a fixture for the Jupiler Pro League team this season, scoring two goals and providing six assists in 31 games.

Vermeeren’s remarkable exploits have piqued the interest of several elite clubs, including Manchester United, Barcelona, Chelsea, and Arsenal, according to reports.

Marc Degryse, a former Sheffield United forward, has pushed the young star to forget the Red Devils or the west London club as his next target.
“What Vermeeren isn’t allowed to do is go to a club like Chelsea or Manchester United and buy thirty or forty players and then loan you out.” They engage in gambling. “You don’t instill confidence in a player like that,” he explained.

Defour, who was at Burnley between 2016 and 2019, agrees with Degryse on Chelsea.

“Chelsea is overly volatile.” “These clubs simply put a player worth €30 million in the stands,” Defour explained.

Degryse went on to say that the manager will be vital when Vermeeren decides to take the next step in his career.

He went on to question the Belgium international what he should do if he had to choose between Brighton and Manchester United.

In response, Defour exclaimed, “Brighton! Brighton!”

Vermeeren’s contract with Royal Antwerp expires in 2026, and he has declared that he intends to conclude the season there.
