West Ham United are reportedly now trying to sign talented left-back from Ipswich Town in January.

David Moyes should absolutely bring in a new left-back to compete with and cover Emerson Palmieri.

The January transfer window will undoubtedly be a difficult moment for the Hammers manager, but it appears that an opportunity may exist for him.

According to The Football League Paper (print edition January 21st, page 8), Moyes may now attempt to recruit Leif Davis to the London Stadium from Portman Road this winter.

It is believed that the West Ham manager is prioritising a move to buy a left-back this winter.

While this is debatable, Davis would be a valuable addition to Moyes’ squad.

Moyes’ squad has numerous areas that need to be strengthened, including centre-forward, centre-back, right-back, and defensive midfield.

Given this, it’s odd that the Scot is focusing on boosting another aspect of his squad.

Davis has a total of 10 assists in 24 Championship games for Ipswich this season. During those games, the 24-year-old has made 1.8 tackles and 1.1 interceptions per game.

He has plenty of speed and power, as well as great technical ability. He also stands 6 feet tall, which will appeal to Moyes.

Leif Davis is an excellent player, and I believe he would fit right in at the London Stadium.

However, I’m not convinced that signing the left-back should be a priority for West Ham in the January transfer window. However, as previously stated, I would not be opposed to Davis joining the Hammers this winter.
