The Buffalo Bills’ top pass rusher is not hiding the fact as he is willing to take his talents elsewhere in the offseason if the team is unwilling to meet his asking price

The Buffalo Bills’ top pass rusher in 2023-24 has made it clear that he is willing to take his skills elsewhere in the offseason if the franchise refuses to match his asking price in NFL free agency.

Over the previous four seasons, edge rusher Leonard Floyd has quietly established himself as one of the league’s most reliable quarterback pressure guys. Since 2020, the 31-year-old has 39.5 sacks and two 10.5 sack seasons, including 2023.

Unsurprisingly, he will try to cash in this offseason after leading the Buffalo Bills to the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs in sacks. The Bills are sure to speak with Floyd in an attempt to sign him to a deal for at least next season. However, don’t expect the defensive star to accept a deal that is less than what his agent believes he is worth on the open market.

“For me, I always follow the money. I would rather be here, but that is what it is. It is a business. “I’m going to go wherever my agent thinks we can get the most money from,” Floyd stated while cleaning out his locker at the team’s facility earlier this week.

The Buffalo Bills are $50 million over the salary cap heading into the summer, making it unlikely that Floyd will be re-signed. Even if they make the necessary moves to go under the cap and enhance the squad, Floyd will most likely receive an offer that a pass-rush-needy team would be unable to match.

Floyd was taken ninth overall by the Chicago Bears in the 2016 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons in Chicago before joining the Los Angeles Rams for the next three, including a championship season in 2021. Floyd signed a one-year contract worth $7 million with the Bills earlier this year.
