Leeds United have been dealt another blow in the quest to strengthen their squad before tomorrow’s deadline.

Leeds have had a bad week in terms of transfers, missing out on right-back Daiki Hashioka to Luton Town before Southampton won the competition for David Brooks. Manuel Benson will also not leave Burnley.

Leeds United have yet to make a single signing this month, and they now have less than 48 hours to do so, with a couple of areas still in need of bolstering, according to Daniel Farke.

Farke has been trying hard to get Everton’s Ben Godfrey, who previously worked under him at Norwich City.

However, Friday night, Sean Dyche gave Godfrey 90 minutes in Everton’s 0-0 draw at Fulham, casting doubt on the possibility of a transfer.

Leeds dealt Godfrey a transfer blow.
Dyche confirmed last week that Godfrey has grown dissatisfied with his lack of playing time this season, with Tuesday evening marking only his second Premier League start of the season.

However, amid the continued conjecture, Dyche’s statement is a clear indication that Godfrey is still in the plans, and it surely signals that a move to Leeds is not imminent.

Leeds have already turned down one loan offer for the 26-year-old but are set to return with another, although his good performance last night may put an end to any hopes of his departing.

This would be a sad setback for Leeds, as he would be an excellent addition at this level due to his versatility across the back four.

Leeds have already seen pursuits of Ben Johnson, Calvin Ramsay, and Neco Williams terminate, and Dyche’s recent decision does not bode well for the club’s ambitions of signing Godfrey.
