Lions reportedly hiring new run game coordinator defensive line coach

Allen Park — Change is unavoidable in the NFL, and it has started with the Detroit Lions coaching staff.

According to The Athletic, the Lions are hiring Terrell Williams to be their run game coordinator and defensive line coach. It is unknown whether John Scott, who was appointed as defensive line coach last season, is transitioning to a new role with the organization or moving on.

Williams, 49, is a former Eastern Carolina defensive player who spent more than a decade working his way up the college levels before taking over as Raiders defensive line coach in 2012. In 2015, he joined the Miami Dolphins’ coaching staff alongside Dan Campbell, who would later become interim head coach, and Ben Johnson.

Williams has been the Tennessee Titans’ defensive line coach since 2018, and he took on the additional role of associate head coach this season under Mike Vrabel.
