The Philadelphia Flyers today announced the club has signed the 25 year old forward

General Manager Daniel Briere announced today that the Philadelphia Flyers have signed forward Ryan Poehling to a two-year, $3.8 million contract extension ($1.9 million AAV) beginning with the 2024-25 season.

Poehling, 25, (1/3/99), has 14 points (5-9=14) in 45 games in his debut season with the Flyers. The 6-foot-2, 204-pound product of Lakeville, Minnesota, leads the team in blocked shots (45) and is tied for fourth in shorthanded points (2). On November 19, he tied his career high with three points (1-2=3) against CBJ, including the game-winning goal. On December 19, the left-handed forward recorded his fifth career multi-goal game at NJD. He signed as a free agent with Philadelphia on July 1, 2023.

Poehling has 50 points (25-25=50), three shorthanded goals, five game-winning goals, and 24 penalty minutes in 183 NHL games across five seasons with Montreal, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia (2018-24). The Montreal Canadiens selected him in the first round (25th overall) of the 2017 NHL Draft, and he made his NHL debut against Toronto on April 6, 2019. He scored his first career hat trick on his NHL debut, making him the first Canadiens player to do so since Alex Smart on January 14, 1943.

Poehling has competed for the United States at the 2017 World Juniors U18 Championship (gold), the 2018 World Junior U20 Championship (bronze), and the 2019 World Junior U20 Championship (silver). He received three awards at the 2019 World Junior Championship: All-Star Team, Best Forward, and Most Valuable Player.
