Packers general manager addressed the state of the organization with a press conference as he discussed the future of Alexander.

Packers’ Pro Bowl cornerback isn’t going anywhere.

The oldest cliché in professional sports is that if you win, everything else is overlooked. That appears to be the situation in Titletown this offseason.

The Green Bay Packers, fresh off a fantastic season in which they beat all odds to win a playoff round, appear satisfied with their roster, despite the controversy surrounding some of its key players.

Cornerback Jaire Alexander and his future with the Packers were going to be huge topics of discussion this offseason. All signs lead to Pro Bowl cornerback returning in 2024.

On Thursday, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst held a press conference to discuss the team’s current situation. Among the things explored was Alexander’s future.

Alexander, who had an injury-plagued 2023 season, raised some eyebrows near the close of the year when he was punished for conduct detrimental to the club. Alexander was forced to miss the following game against the Vikings after proclaiming himself captain against the Panthers in Week 16.

Head coach Matt LaFleur informed the reporters that “it’s never just one thing” in reference to Alexander’s antics. This was a troubling development for Packers supporters, who feared they would lose their best cornerback.

However, the tension between the parties appears to have subsided. This was possibly owing to the financial expense of moving on from Alexander, as his base dead cap would severely limit the Packers’ financial freedom.

Green Bay and Alexander signed a four-year, $84 million contract last year, and the Packers are better suited keeping him rather than taking the cap hit. Let’s hope 2024 marks a new beginning in the team’s connection with Alexander.
