Browns coaching staff still has at least one position to fill

The Cleveland Browns coaching staff is officially taking shape under head coach Kevin Stefanski. While GM Andrew Berry refused to discuss or confirm the departures of several coaches when he spoke with the media in January, various reports indicated that Alex Van Pelt, Stump Mitchell, and TC McCartney were let go.

Bill Callahan was later said to have left to join his son, Brian, with the Tennessee Titans.

There were also reports of additions to Stefanski’s team:

Coaches:

Ken Dorsey as offensive coordinator

Duce Staley as running backs coach

Tommy Rees (shown above) as tight ends coach

Jacques Cesaire as defensive line coach

The Browns held a press conference on Monday during Super Bowl week after announcing all four hires. During that time, Stefanski and Dorsey spoke, but neither said who would call the plays.

The team’s official announcement about Rees’ hiring mentions that he is also a pass game expert. In addition to coaching wide receivers, Chad O’Shea is designated as Cleveland’s pass game coordinator.

Staley and Cesaire, along with Dorsey, add NFL playing experience to their roles as league coaches.
