Liverpool have been heavily linked with making a move for Barcelona prospect Ansu Fati in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool appear to have suffered a severe setback in their pursuit of Spanish sensation Ansu Fati. The winger has been widely connected with a move to Anfield in recent weeks, but a deal may no longer be possible because Barcelona is apparently going to use him as a makeweight in another trade.
Jurgen Klopp’s side chose not to spend money during the January transfer window, with the Merseyside club pleased with their current roster of players who have guided them to a strong start to the season.

The Reds are now top of the Premier League, having won 15 of their first 23 games to establish themselves as title contenders. Despite the fact that there is still lots to play for, Liverpool is already preparing for the summer transfer market.
Barcelona star Fati, who is on loan at Brighton, is one of the forwards linked with a move to the Reds at the end of the season. However, those plans could be derailed before negotiations even begin.

According to Sport, Barcelona is interested in signing Brighton star Kaoru Mitoma this summer and has identified the Japanese international as an attacking target. The La Liga club has been constantly monitoring the winger’s growth and understands how difficult it will be to tempt him away from the Seagulls.
However, Barcelona believes Fati may be the key to unlocking negotiations with Brighton. The Camp Nou club is thought to be hoping to use the 21-year-old as a makeweight in a player-plus-cash deal for Mitoma, after ruling out the possibility of the Spain international staying with the club.
Fati turned down a loan transfer to Tottenham in favour of joining Brighton this summer, and he has made an immediate impact at the Amex Stadium, netting four goals in 14 appearances for Roberto De Zerbi’s side. Disaster came in November, however, when the playmaker suffered a hamstring injury, and he only returned to duty this weekend.
Liverpool is one of the clubs that has apparently been monitoring Fati’s performances since his Premier League debut, and they will be hoping that Barcelona does not use the talented potential in negotiations for Mitoma, allowing them to sign him instead.
