Newcastle injury crisis has went from bad to worse with key player suffer yet another massive injury ahead of Bournemouth clash

Newcastle’s ever-growing injury crisis has worsened, with Callum Wilson expected to miss up to three months, talkSPORT understands.

The 31-year-old needs surgery to repair his pectoral tendon, which will likely keep him out of action until early May.

Wilson had the difficulty during the Magpies’ stunning 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest last week.

He was forced off late in the contest, and the former Bournemouth player was seen wearing his shirt as a makeshift sling.

It’s a major blow for the England international, who will now have to race against the clock to get healthy in order to make Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad.

Wilson started the season in good form, scoring seven Premier League goals in his first nine games.

However, he has not scored a goal in the top division since October 28.

The centre-forward is now expected to undergo surgery this week, dealing a major setback to manager Eddie Howe.

Newcastle are now without several first-team players, with games against the Cherries, Arsenal, and an FA Cup fifth-round clash with Blackburn on the horizon.

Alexander Isak is still out with a groin injury, although it is anticipated he will return before the end of the month.

The same cannot be said for midfielder Joelinton, goalkeeper Nick Pope, and left-back Matt Targett.

However, Joe Willock, Jacob Murphy, and Elliot Anderson may play before March.

If Wilson fails to appear again this season, he may have played his final game for Newcastle.

He is under contract at St James’ Park until 2025, and the player has plenty of suitors.

According to talkSPORT, Wilson was wanted by Chelsea and West Ham in January, and Saudi Arabia may be interested in him in the summer.
