The 22 year old Philadelphia Flyers’ sustained a massive injury as he fractured his leg

The Philadelphia Flyers have reported that Tyson Foerster has sustained a minor lower-body injury. The Flyers have also revealed that defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen is sidelined with a minor upper-body ailment. The Flyers will play the Arizona Coyotes on Monday night, the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night, and the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night. The hope is that Foerster and Ristolainen will be able to play against the Devils this Saturday.

Foerster is having a strong season for the Flyers, scoring 10 goals and 21 points in 52 games and earning a +3 rating. He is qualified for the Calder Trophy despite only playing eight games last season, although he is unlikely to win given the extremely strong competition from players like as Connor Bedard, Brock Faber, Luke Hughes, and others.

Foerster has excelled at every level he has competed at throughout his career. He was taken in the first round of the 2020 NHL Draft following a successful season with the Barrie Colts, in which he scored 36 goals and 80 points in 62 games. He made the rare transition from junior to the AHL as a teenager, scoring 17 points in 24 games as an AHL rookie.

However, the winger suffered injuries that year and the following season, limiting him to only 22 games in 2021-22. He played nine games with the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms before returning to the OHL’s Colts for 13 games. He followed that up with an outstanding season at Lehigh in 2022-23, scoring 48 points in 66 games and seven points in eight NHL games.

Foerster is one of the Flyers’ most important assets and will be a productive player for the next decade or more.

Ristolainen has had a solid season and has made significant improvements on the defensive aspect of his game. However, he has plagued with injuries this season, missing more than 20 games. He is also a potential trade target for this year’s trade deadline and could be traded before the season ends.
